further inside....

Walk straight ahead and you enter the "family room".
The large dark hole on the left is the fireplace.
The large dark hole on the right is the kitchen.
The bright hole in the middle is the closed-in porch with the fabulous view to the fabulous back yard.
Envision with me....
from the fireplace....all the way to the right side of the picture....EVERYTHING gone...just glass...glass doors to access the porch and the view to the back yard. Yeah!!

If you walk into the black hole on the right hand side of the previous picture...you see this.
This, is the kitchen.
Or should I say...WAS the kitchen. It is all gone now. Back to the studs.

Looking through the doors at the end you see the living room/dining room. (remember,we saw this from the other end as we first came in.)

Listen closely now and I will try to explain what is happening here in the kitchen.
That oven you see on the right...well that is now gone and that is where the fridge will go. (more or less...we will enlarge that pantry that you see next to the oven so the whole thing will slide this way a bit)
The cooktop and the wall behind it , gone. That will be open counter...open to the family room.
On this wall on the left, where you see the fridge...you will see the sink (window over the sink) and further down across from the panty you will see the new stove/oven.

The light fixture in the immediate foreground...gone. I know, I know...you wanted it. But sorry, it is gone now.

Lets move on now to the "east wing". (bah hah hah...that is the first time I have called it that and it cracks me up!) Seriously, lets go take a peek at the bedrooms.

lets take a look inside...shall we?

Open the front door, step into the entry and look to the right and you see the "front room".
Formal living and dining room.
This room is long and narrow.
At the end, on the left, you see the door leading into the kitchen.

Again, this is as I saw it for the first time. Any stuff you see here belongs to the PO (previous owner...got that from reading all those fabulous house blogs)
It is fabulous stuff, no?

heres the yard...

Here are some pictures of the back yard. (and one of the front yard at the very bottom)
This is late Febuary or early March.
Just wait til I show you what it looks like in full summer green !
The large trees are pecans. WOW! the neighbors told us they got 300 lbs off them last year.
We even have a couple of Japanese maples.
That makes me smile!!

I love blogs!

I have spent the day reading blogs...lots and lots of blogs.
They are terriffic!
All I have read are house blogs.
Blogs about fixing old houses.
So informative.
So imaginative.
So inspiring.......
So here I go.
Knowing nothing about how to go about this.
Forgive my faux-paw, feau-pau, fo-paw...whatever.
Forgive my blunders cuz I am sure there will be MANY!
Enjoy the crazy ride as we go blindly into the night that is remodelling.

our financial officer refers to this as our "loan product".
we are the recipients of a "rehabilitation loan".
we prefer to call it our new house.
you could say money pit (and sometimes we do) but say it sweetly and full of grace.
God is GOOD!
this is our house as I first saw it...before it was "ours". The nice lady in front is our realtor (she really is nice)

Come on in and let us show you around!

Heartbreak x2

Little Romeo is at it again. Keep in mind, he's only 10yrs old:

Dear Andi,

The pain has doubled so since you said no. Words are something that you can never take back, but some things can be forgiven. No one can heal the wound but you. Oh how I wish you would say yes. But a wish is just a dream. If only dreams could come true. Now I know why you said no but why does age make such a big difference. I wish their was a way you would say yes.

Love,
XXXXX

Here is the response:

XXXXX-

It's not just about age. I'm sorry that you're hurting, but please stop.

Andi

Our Little Heartbreaker

Here's a typewritten "note" our daughter just received from a younger, 10-year-old neighborhood boy, delivered via our oldest son. His name has been omitted to protect the "innocent."

"Dear Andi,

I know that I like you, and I know that I should have told you earlier, but I want to ask you if you will be my girlfriend. Everyday that I have waited to tell you a hole inside of me has grown bigger. The hole is depression. Depressioin is a side effect of liking someone, and that someone is you. I am still very sorry for not telling you earlier.

Love,
XXXXX"

Oh boy...

And here is her response (also typewritten):

"Dear XXXXX,

I am sorry that you are depressed.
Don't be.
You are nice, but I am too old for you and I am not interested in having anyone for a boyfriend.
Sorry.

Your friend,
Andi"

Our First Blog

I set this up for my wife without her asking for it. It should be fun.
