A hu-gah-gous MESS...that's what!
It looked like a bag of plaster exploded in the house.
Evidently these guys are used to slappin things up fast and furious. Gloops and glops, blurbs and blobs, splats and splashes...
here's me trying not to freak out..."well they must have some system"...pollyanna to the end.

these pictures simply do not do proper justice to the mess.

and yet...at the same time...I am amazed at how unafraid these mud-men must be. they wield their trowels with audacious flair. syrupy gloops of plaster sling unnoticed from their flying weapons of drywall containment. WHAP! SLAM! fling it now...sand it later...
step carefully and carry a large putty knife.
I have so much to learn!
Suddenly I don't feel so bad about making such a huge mess when I did my kitchen. I'm just like a pro! I bet they didn't get any in their mouth, though. I can still taste it.
ReplyDeletebah Hah HAH! that is too funny.
ReplyDeleteHmmmm...good food for thought. I'm about to embark on hiring out some mudding work in my LR and DR. I've been wavering between do I remove the carpet before or after? Your post pushes me towards "wait until after" and haul out the mess with the carpet.
ReplyDeleteJoint compound is much easier to remove when it is dry. You can use a scraper to get it up. You can also wipe it with a wet sponge and it will become soft and similar to when it was applied to the walls. Most of my work stays on the walls, but I am never in a hurry to get it on. I guess I shouldn't start a drywall business any time soon!
